Meet Kelly McCausey

Kelly McCausey has built a thriving internet business doing what she loves; writing, creating, coaching and encouraging others.

Every day moms are juggling their need to earn income with their desire to be with their children. They want to enjoy their babies and snuggle their young ones through the day but often have to say good-bye so they can head out to earn a paycheck. Staying at home without an income is not usually an option - so working at home becomes the dream.

With a goal to provide high value, low cost resources and services that help these moms achieve dreams of working at home, Kelly publishes a variety of blogs, podcasts, ebooks and audio products along with a weekly newsletter that reaches 6000+ moms.

Her passion for moms who need to make extra money comes from her own years of financial struggle.

After a short marriage Kelly started life as a single mom with a two year old and a few thousand dollars in credit card debt. Everything seemed to go downhill from there.

In her own words...

I never had enough money. I was always struggling to cover a utility bill and when I did get some sort of windfall it usually went to fix my old car or take care of a crisis. It was two steps forward, three steps back.

I remember one year where I was really starting to get my head above water and a serious wind storm pushed three big trees over - enough to put my home in danger but not far enough to make them touch the house. That meant they had to be taken down but my homeowners insurance wouldn't pay, so there I was out of $1000 hard cold cash!

At that point, I think I sunk into an attitude that nothing would ever change for me. I would always be in debt and never be able to do the things I wanted to. But that wasn't true.

In 2002 I started to look for ways to make money at home. I launched a desktop publishing business and created my own website. This opened a door that led to a whole new world for me and six years later, my life is completely changed.

Through learning and applying principles of internet marketing - then teaching it to others - I've been able to dig myself out of debt, quit my day job and live life on my own terms, all the while homeschooling my son. Being a web based entrepreneur gives me a lot of freedom and that's what I want to share with other moms. It isn't all about making a lot of money. Money is nice but choices are better.

Last year I chose to sell my house and move closer to family. When my sister's daughter became pregnant with quadruplets, I reduced my business hours and my Son and I devoted the next 12 months to helping out while she was on bedrest while taking the night shift so mom and dad could get some sleep. During those 12 months, my income never dipped.

My son turned 18 in 2008. He'll be home with me for a couple more years at least but my role as a mom has changed. Soon I'll be able to travel and do some of the things that got put on hold all these years.

I used to wonder if when the time came I would feel less of a passion for moms - but now that it's here I can say for sure that it hasn't.

I love helping other moms build businesses that give them more choices and fewer limits - because I know that translates into more snuggles and fewer good-byes.
