Yes, I did just redesign this blog back in June. I knew it wasn’t a look I could stay happy with in the long term so this past week I went theme shopping again.
I’m a big fan of the Revolution Themes but I wanted to try something new. My friend @sugarrae has been tweeting quite a bit about the Thesis theme and I decided to give it a try.
Speaking of the Revolution Themes, did you hear that the developer is going to stop selling these popular Wordpress themes at the end of October? It’s true – and he is selling them at a great price for the rest of the month. If you’ve been thinking about buying one or grabbing a developer’s license for the whole package, now is the time to grab it.
The Thesis theme is very clean looking which I love. I have a personal preference for white space on my sites and it definitely delivers that. You may be looking at this layout and thinking that it isn’t terribly different from many free themes available and you’re right about that.
The coolness of Thesis is actually found behind the scenes. When Thesis is activated you get new areas in your admin panel that let you make quick changes to your website – like changing your whole site from a three column to a two column or even a one column. You can instantly change the widths of all columns in one place and control the fonts and font sizes lickety-split. No digging into the CSS, which is surely be welcome news to those who hate facing a complicated style sheet.

I initially purchased a single use license since I was just playing with Thesis for my own blog but I quickly went back to pay for the upgrade to a developer’s license. I know that we’ll be using Thesis for clients over at FreshNets.
So what do you think of the new look here? What would you like to see added to the blog?

How does it compare to Revolution for those of us who already have it, Kelly?

I really love how great Thesis looks! I love Revolution too and can see where each theme would work for me.
Rae was tweeting the other day about the upgrade of Thesis (a new version I think?) and how it wasn’t as easy to change the css – what do you think?

Great, just when I was thinking on buying Revolution! But I’m also loving the Thesis features. Thinking on a blogging biz (hi from Blog Evangelists) I think Revolution is the theme to go, right?

Cindy, Revo themes are magazine style and Thesis is more of a straight blog theme so they are hard to compare.
Tsoniki, Thesis is set up so that you have little need to delve into CSS - BUT, if you want to you can. I haven’t fiddled with mine much so I can’t tell you if I think it’s easy or hard.
Thanks Crissy!
Monica, you should definitely grab the Revo themes!

OH this is not good. You have me wanting to change themes again for my New Urban Mom site! I like Revolution, but I don’t like the time it takes to correct and fix things.
I’d love not to have fiddle as much with CSS looking forward to your ongoing feedback on this theme…

Thesis is great for a straight blog Sharon – if you love being able to display various specific content on the home page, stick to Revo!
