Are you writing articles to promote your business? If not, you are missing a great opportunity to gain free exposure for your blog or business and drive traffic to your website. Article marketing does not have to be tough or time consuming. Here are four tips to get you started:
- Look at writing you have already done to generate a few articles to start with. Could you rework and reuse some previous blog posts? Generally, articles should be specific, easy-to-read and contain helpful tips. A good length for an article is 400 to 600 words.
- Be sure to add your article to your website, and notify your followers on Twitter when you have published something new.
- Submit your article to one or more article directories. Publishing your article to an article directory will generate traffic for your website from a variety of sources. For example, your article could be reprinted by other sources or viewed by people browsing the directory itself. If your articles generally are geared toward the WAHM crowd, consider submitting your articles to the popular directory WAHM Articles. Another good, but more generalized, article directory is Ezine Articles.
- When you publish your article to an article directory, you will write a short “About the Author” blurb that will published along with your article. Be sure to include a “call to action” or a freebie which will draw readers to your website or blog.

I have not done article marketing yet. These are great tips to get me started. Do you ever publish the same article to a directory and your blog or do you just publish the article to a directory?
Thank you for posting these tips! I have done very little article writing, but want to. I have always blogged about my business haphazardly, and want to find a way to do it with more purpose and intention. Need to go write some things up! Thanks!

Great tips! I forgot about article directories and having a call to action in your bio is something I never would have thought of.
