Wednesdays are proving to be rough days around here this summer. (We all remember last week.) Today was shaping up to look frustrating - but fortunately a clear head and patience won the battle. (I won’t go into details - no looking back!)

After a much needed sleep, I’m refreshed and ready to tackle the rest of this day and tonight’s Hot Seminar Series with Leesa Barnes. (I hope you can make it!)

A bright spot just erupted to put a smile on my face and that is to find the WAHM Talk Radio Blog listed as a SOB over on Liz Strauss’ blog. This is a real honor and it totally made my day. (Thanks Liz!)

This whole week has been packed solid with activity and I’m really ashamed that I haven’t been here to my very own number one blog to talk about my newest project - so let me get down to telling you about it now.

It’s called Blog Evangelists and it’s a ‘fixed term membership site’ that I’ve launched in response to what I’ve been learning from Jimmy D. Brown’s Membernaire program.

BE will teach members how to launch a local blog design company, whether as an actual designer or as a consultant who outsources all the tech to others. Over a period of 12 months we’ll take our Blog Evangelists through the paces of building their own unique business teaching their local business community the value of Web 2.0 websites - developing clients and residual income along the way.

I believe BE is perfect for blog lovers because they’re always trying to talk someone else into starting their own blog anyways - why not turn that passion into a business? It’s also going to be great for virtual assistants who want to build more local clientèle.

Blog Evangelists launched on Monday morning and we already have 20 members. Special launch pricing is active now and we’ll start bumping it up towards the permanent price when we reach around 50 members - so take a look soon to cement the best monthly price.

My big news this week is the launch of my new membership site, Blog Evangelists. Yes, it breaks the 2008 rule about ‘no new projects’ but I have forgiven myself so I hope you can too!

Blog Evangelists will teach members how to create, launch and build a local blog design company. It’s a great niche for 2008 and beyond. Sound interesting? Check it out!

Yesterday was one of those days you just don’t want to experience but which come anyways.

First - I was sleep deprived. Nothing new there - since the arrival of the qauds our schedule has been nutty.

Second - I was tech deprived. The conference room I so carefully reviewed and chose for the Hot Seminar Series was proving to be woefully inadequate.

Third - Piper was admitted to the hospital. After two days of high fever she went to the doctor who sent her to the ER for fluids and test showed that she had a severe UTI infection so she was checked in and put on IV antibiotics.

We went through something similar with Max a few months back. Having one of the babies in the hospital creates a whole new dynamic when it comes to covering 24 hours of each day with enough hands to take care of everyone.

Long story short: I postponed last night’s Hot Seminar Series with Lynn Terry and dropped everything off of my schedule for the rest of yesterday and today so that I could put in extra time on Quad Watch.

Piper’s doing better today. Her fever is still going up when tylenol wears off but she isn’t throwing up anymore and has started to take some formula again. That’s good news

I really don’t like having to cancel things, but I know that you understand that everything else pales in comparison to the needs of family. I’ll be working with Lynn to get her topic rescheduled as soon as possible and will post news on that.

I’ll leave you with a little dose of the preciousness of Piper (and grandpa)

<itunes:summary>Mom, have you cheated on Twitter with Plurk?
Twitter is my virtual water cooler of choice and I refuse to cheat on it with other 'stream of blabber/micro blogging' watering holes on the web - but many have no problem sneaking over the fence to dabble in other social networking sites.
Sure, Twitter has had it's troubles lately - but I can be patient and hope that they get things under control soon.
Dr. Daisy Sutherland joins me to talk about her experiences with Twitter and Plurk.nbsp; If you're wondering, the 'Dr' title comes from her training as a Chiropractor.nbsp; Mom of five, she is devoted to homeschooling her kids and developing her home based business efforts as a blogger and freelance writer.

After a couple of nights spent juggling feverish babies I was blessed with a great quiet night on Quad Watch today and boy did I enjoy it!

I listened to a couple of great podcasts. One that Lynn Terry recommended over here and another one about Wordpress that I listen to regularly.

I had to update something here in the Work at Home Moms Talk Radio blog and as soon as I poked my nose into the theme files I was overcome by a great desire to give the blog an overhaul.

Just looking at Wordpress themes is intoxicating. You know how some women love to shop for shoes?

BATHURST NSW, Australia – Australian business owner Kylie Short, of Tilda Virtual Services, has won the Janet Jordan Achievement Award at this year’s online virtual assistant convention (OIVAC). The award honors a newcomer Virtual Assistant who has been in business for less than five years and has reached a milestone in their short career.

Tilda Virtual Services (TVS) recently reached two milestones. The first was a celebration of two years in business on May 15th 2008 and the second, moving into office space downtown. “It’s said that it takes a village to raise a child and I firmly believe that it takes a community to raise a VA”, said Short during her acceptance speech. “A lot of what I learned, I learned from the best.”

Nominees for the award are asked to submit application packets and the materials are judged by the OIVAC Steering Committee. The winner is chosen based on a set of specific criteria and a numeric scaling system. Short’s application materials apparently earned high points with the committee. Some of the criteria include industry memberships, mentoring and volunteering.

Janet Jordan, who died in 2006, was a recognized industry leader in the virtual assistance field. Along with running her private VA practice which included clients who spanned the globe, Mrs. Jordan also trained aspiring entrepreneurs to launch their own up-to-the-minute, compelling and relevant virtual assistant practices through Virtual Assistance U. Short is following in Jordan’s footsteps volunteering time to help educate various organizations and virtual assistants on technical and Web site issues.

Reflecting on the announcement, Short said, “I was so honored to be nominated but to actually win – I feel very humble, special and excited all at the same time.”

June 10, 2008—Pensacola, FL—Good help is no longer hard to find. Online Business Management expert Nicole Dean and Technology Consultant Darina Loakman are making sure that business owners have a reliable resource for finding short and long-term help with the recent launch of a directory of professional female freelancers called “Shelancers” (www.shelancers.com).

“There are a number of freelancer directories in the market place but none that have the unique focus of Shelancers. The name says it all. This is an online directory of female freelancers specializing in everything from graphic design to accounting,” explains Dean.

As business continues to heat up for online companies, managers are feeling the pressure to have quick access to reliable specialists who can
• Update the design of a website
• Write content for web pages, article marketing campaigns and brochures
• Proofread ebooks, manuscripts and promotional copy
• Provide customer service for web based or telephone help centers and
• Manage administrative and accounting tasks with ease and professionalism.

The Shelancers directory includes specialists who can address the needs of most businesses owners, especially those companies doing business online.

“The Internet has created a new and vibrant marketplace generating tremendous workloads for many small, mid-size and larger businesses. We’ve actively sought out and attracted the best people in marketing, graphic design, website management, virtual assistance (administration), public relations, business communications, accounting, business coaching and more. There is no need for business owners to panic about not having appropriate staff—not when there is a comprehensive resource available like Shelancers. Best of all there is no search fee or other cost associated with using this directory,” explains Dean.

Easy access is an attribute of this directory. Each listing provides freelancer contact information and available client feedback to help hiring managers/owners to readily secure references, quotes and samples of work.

Florida resident, Nicole Dean has been helping women work from home since 2004 and is a recognized expert in Online Business and Affiliate Management. A resident of Ireland, Darina Loakman was included in a list of 50 of the most influential women in Ireland as compiled by the Examiner Newspaper (2006). Both entrepreneurial moms are available for media interviews to discuss their joint venture - Shelancers. To schedule an interview please contact Sharon McMillan, Media Relations, 905-472-5384.

Tornados and thunderstorms blew through mid-Michigan this weekend. One tornado drove my sister to a dark crawl space with two howling cats while my brother in law searched for flashlights with working batteries. Another storm shook and swayed my brothers mini van with his wife and two kids inside outside of the Walmart off of Lake Lansing Road.

Don’t you love crazy weather?

I wish I could blame the lack of Work at Home Moms Talk Radio this week on a tornado or wicked thunderstorm but I can’t. I only experienced a blip of electricity loss.

No, my show isn’t up because of another swirling whirlwind of energy and humanity… the five year old’s birthday party.

My great-niece Macey (big sister to the Quads) turned five on Saturday.

It was decided that Macey should have a new swing set for her birthday - and with four up and coming swingers in the family, they chose a monstrously large model which declared on its instruction sheet that two people could build in sixteen hours.

Yeah right.

Macey’s Dad, my son and a plethora of other manly individuals gave every afternoon and evening in the last week over to this project. Even counting the trips to the hardware for stronger bolts, broken drills, new pieces of wood to replace those cut wrongly - the project easily gobbled up 40 hours.

In fact, the swing set - complete with enclosed spiral slide (with water slide functionality) and rock climbing wall, six spots for little behinds to swing on plus who knows what else - was only finished in the dusky hours before sunset the day before the party.

Which by the way meant that I stayed nine and a half hours past my usual time on Saturday to help my niece with the babies (plus another nine month old who belonged to one of the guys helping with the swingset).

Which by the way meant that I only had time to sleep before returning for Quad Watch that night.

Which by the way meant I didn’t have time to go to the store to buy the five year old a present. (Epic Fail)

And since the party was at 4pm - meant I had to go home and sleep the early part of the day in order to shower and come back for the party - which didn’t end until 9pm - which meant I only had time to take Sean home, eat something that didn’t have sugar in it and come back for another night of Quad Watch.

I won’t say much about my contribution to the party itself except to pause for a moment of silence to mourn the hours wasted in a failed attempt to create chocolate dipped strawberries on a stick with chocolate that never hardened.

(It was a Strawberry Shortcake Party)

And yes - it DID thunderstorm cats and dogs just as the birthday party started - keeping a dozen kids from playing on the new swingset until about 8pm that night.

I’m dizzy. There’s no show. And I’m sorry.
