How do you find your guests for WAHMTalkRadio?
I’m glad you asked this Nicole because I am always looking for work at home moms and internet marketing experts to be my guest.
My listeners like to learn about promoting their businesses online and always enjoy meeting other moms who are just getting started or have begun to experience real success.
I find some guests by browsing articles directories, specifically Lady Pens. Since that directory only features women authors I find a lot of WAHMs there. I also find guests on forums and blogs that I’ve visited or been referred to. Sometimes I’ll use Google Blog Search to find someone in a specific topic.
Some guests find me and I totally welcome that. We have some information on how best to pitch a show topic or interview here.
Do you have any pet peeves when it comes to guest behavior? (I hope you don’t say “giggling” or I’m hosed!)
ROFL! Well, I have to admit that I find female ‘giggling’ annoying listen to online and caution other show hosts about doing too much giggling themselves - especially if they have a high pitched giggle.
A guest who giggles isn’t a big deal. I can easily edit it out if it is too loud or seemed out of place. (Just for the record, I’ve never had a problem with your giggling!)
The big pet peeve that stands out to me is the guest who acts like they are ‘God’s Gift To Your Show’. They talk too much and barely pause for half a breath before talking some more. They have their own agenda for their appearance and ignore your questions or answer them only enough to segue into their next monologue. I’ve had to literally shout a guests name to regain control of an interview and that just shouldn’t happen.
A small pet peeve is a guest who barely talk at all. I understand that these guests are usually just shy. Many of my guests have never been on any kind of show before so being interviewed is really intimidating. My solution is to spend time chatting with them before hitting the record button. When I sense that they are loosening up with me, I start the official interview.
A professional pet peeve is a guest who asks to be on your show but never promotes their appearance at all. They want the exposure with my listeners, but they don’t tell their mailing list about the show or even blog about it. That’s just rude
Mostly, my guests are the greatest. I’m no big time pro here. I’m a mom with a mic and I’m willing to share it with just about anybody with something interesting or inspiring to say.
Thanks for the questions Nicole!
Now, another question for you: What do you think about Twitter? And why don’t I see more of you there?

Oh how funny! Nik is the queen of giggles during interviews. I find it cute, though. It’s who she is. I have been known to let out a giggle or two myself LOL
Having said that, if someone were to giggle through the entire interview and then the host joined in I could see how it might get annoying to listen to.
I could never do a show with another giggler because that’s all that would be going on!
