Leslie Truex is the author of the new book, The Work at Home Success Bible and she was also our Buzz a Mom participant this week. Leslie also runs the popular resource site Work at Home Success – not only does she talk the talk, but indeed she walks the walk.
And she fully admits to working in her pjs all day long – woo hoo! If a person who writes a book about working from home can wear her pjs, then I won’t feel guilty about it anymore :)
The Work at Home Success Bible was written this year (yep, 2009) so it is chock full of current information, strategies and advice. Written for all moms (or dads) who want to work from home: telecommuting to your existing job, finding a new telecommuting job, starting a business, selling on eBay or Amazon, Affiliate Marketing, creating and selling Info Products or starting a service based business. It gives you a good breakdown on how to get started in each of these areas, when you narrow down your specific area, you may need to do more research, but you have more than enough to get started.
There are a few things that I really, really love about this book:
- easy to read and you can get through it quickly
- gives you the basic facts of what you need without any extra fluff, perfect for busy moms!
- has excellent worksheets for your to brainstorm ideas, figure out expenses and more
- chapter summaries at the end of each chapter
- covers everything from brainstorming business ideas to business and marketing plans
- tips and strategies of how to create some sort of balance between home and business
- great resources listed in the appendix
- WAHM success stories sprinkled throughout
The Work at Home Success Bible is one of those books that is applicable to both the wanna-be, the newbie and the old hat WAHMs. It is a really good resource just to keep on your desk and pull out whenever you need a quick idea or wonder where to go next or just need a fantastic reference guide. If you are brand new to working at home, there is lots of detail on how to avoid getting scammed, which is unfortunately a huge problem in this market.
What I really appreciate are the labeled steps on how to do a task, or launch something. It is not abstract paragraphs, it is labeled, in easy to read lists. Leslie knows we are too busy to read through paragraphs and extra words, she gives us the goods in a straight-forward, easy to understand way. It is packed with actionable items – you do not have to guess what to do next.
Now to be honest, I have not read any other work from home books, so I can’t compare The Work at Home Success Bible to any others, but I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed by the book. Leslie knows what she is talking about, and has a way of just providing the perfect amount of information you require. The content is very current, thorough and it is easy to absorb – what more could you want? If you want to work from home, this is mandatory reading in my opinion. If you already work from home, this is a mandatory refresher.
So heck the reviews on Amazon, this book has five 5-star reviews, and order your copy today, you will definitely learn something (or a ton of somethings!) from The Work at Home Success Bible. As of this writing, it is $10.17 well spent on your business.
