Content, Article Marketing and Social Networking for your Niche Affiliate Blog

Mary Lutz is back today to continue on with the topic of niche affiliate blogging, something that many people who work from home do to provide a means of passive income. Today, she is going to share with you how you can use content and article marketing to make the most out of your niche blog.

In my last post I showed you how to set up a niche affiliate blog and I told you I would talk about content, article marketing and social networking for your niche affiliate blog. Since I left off with affiliate programs, I’ll talk a little bit more about those since this is probably the most complicated, but important, process of affiliate marketing. After all, this is where the majority of your revenue is going to come from.

Affiliate Programs

I gave you three affiliate marketing programs to start with. If you haven’t done so yet, go ahead and get signed up as an affiliate (sometimes called a publisher). Once you confirm your email address and other information (which may require a phone call from the company) go ahead and start searching for products and services to advertise on your blog. Obviously you want to stay within your niche so begin your search by using specific words that have to do with your niche.

You may find several products or services to offer, but not all vendors are cracked up to be as they appear. Take some time to look at their website, their sales page, their about page, etc. to see if they are a company you want to promote on your blog.

You may also find that, while a company appears to be legit, you may not make any money from them; their prices may be too high or their products just don’t sell for whatever reasons. You will probably have to do a few test campaigns until you find some programs that work for you.

Content and Article Marketing

Let’s move on to content and article marketing. Content is probably going to be the most difficult thing for you to produce on a regular basis, especially after you’ve had your blog up for a while. But, it is the most important aspect of your niche affiliate blog. After all, your readers won’t continue to return to your blog if you don’t continue to provide them with quality information.

There are a couple of ways you can obtain niche specific content for your blog:

  1. Purchase PLR. PLR is Private Label Rights. Basically, they are prewritten articles you purchase to use as your own. I recommend Easy PLR and All Private Label Content to start with. They offer a wide range of topics at very reasonable prices.
  2. Hire a ghostwriter. While this may be a little more expensive, you have more control over the actual content. In addition, the ghostwriter you choose should have the ability to write in your voice…in other words, the content provided should sound as if it came from you.

As far as article marketing goes, in order to gain a wider audience, you will also need to submit articles to article directories such as Ezine.com and Articlesbase.com. There are several other good article directories out there too and you may be able to hire your ghostwriter to do this for you or a qualified virtual assistant.

When submitting articles, the most important thing to consider is the author’s resource box at the bottom of each article. This is where you will add the link to your blog and after people read your compelling article, they will have no choice but to click. Okay, it may not happen just like that, but that’s the idea.

Google Adsense

This is another way to make some revenue from you niche affiliate blog. If you don’t have a Google account (and why wouldn’t you?) then I recommend you get one now. Once your Google account is set up, go to adsense.google.com and create an ad.

Follow the steps until you get an HTML code. You will want to paste that code somewhere on your blog; it depends on your blog’s theme where you place it, but you want it to be somewhere so that it appears on each blog post. Each time you publish a new blog post, Google places links or ads that pertain to your specific niche on your post and when your readers click and purchase from those links you make money.

Since this post is getting pretty long now, I’m going to finish up on my next post with social networking. It’s a pretty big topic and I don’t want to cheat you out of any useful information.
