I’m recording a teleconference for a client and working on some graphics this afternoon while keeping an eye on Twitter to see what’s happening among my online gal pals.
One friend is thinking about taking on a new project and I couldn’t help but ‘tweet’ that the project doesn’t fit too well with what she already has going on.
It has me thinking (again) about how hard it is sometimes to make good decisions about what to take on and what to leave for someone else when you’re sorting through all of the great ideas that come into your head.
It’s easy to act on ideas for scattered projects. It’s hard to leave good ideas on the table when they don’t fit. But a focused business is always easier to build and profit from in the long run so smart entrepreneurs will make the tough calls!

It’s true that so many of us struggle to say, “NO” to new projects, and it’s certainly easy to get carried away by the excitement. But if you don’t force yourself to stop and really examine it before you jump in head first, it’ll come back to haunt you later, lol!
There are so many great opportunities, but the ones that are going to prove profitable and long-lasting are the ones that really fit with your business. I’ve learned this the hard way, and yet, at times, it’s still a struggle for to turn something down.
