I prefer PayPal

When I sign up for an affiliate program I am always pleased to find out that affiliate payments are made via PayPal.  I don’t mind losing a bit of cash to the PayPal fees though I am glad when the affiliate manager uses the PayPal Masspay option. (That means that the payee gets the whole amount and the payer pays a small fee to PayPal.)

Clickbank and Aweber are two programs that I promote that make affiliate payments by check that I do participate in.  Aweber has been smooth sailing but Clickbank has been difficult to deal with on a couple of occasions.  (To be fair, the problems seem to be resolved now.)

Getting paid by check means that I have to fill out deposit slips and make a trip to the bank or mail them in and wait for the deposit to credit.  I know PayPal deposits take time to process too, but I like that I can do everything via my computer.  (Lazy, lazy, lazy!)

Right now, since I moved the most annoying part of getting paid by check is waiting for my darn mail to forward to my new post office box :(   (grumbling)

Getting checks in the mail is so much more EXCITING though! But yeah, I agree. I usually save mine until I can justify making a trip to the bank. And then only if I’m going to pass the bank anyway on another errand. Gas prices y’know!

  3. I have to agree with you Kelly Paypal is a very nice option and one I prefer.

  4. Paypal is easy, but checks don’t get spent the same way. lol When there is money sitting in my paypal account it’s easier to spend then if I put a check in the bank. And, it feels like I actually earned money that month. For instance, my google checks and clickbank checks are what my husband sees. He and I can hold the check that shows how much I made. When it’s in the paypal account we both don’t seem to count that as much. Silly maybe, but checks seem more real…real money. Of course I do enjoy the paypal option … I’m not anti paypal, but check money seems more real to me.

  5. Nell has a point…PayPal doesn’t seem like “real money” to me sometimes either. When it comes in a bit here and a bit there, I have a hard time keeping track of it. If I get a big influx at once, then I take note and transfer it to my checking account. But it’s those darn little incremental payments that seem to slip through my fingers more easily! :)

But I love PayPal because it’s easy and anything that makes things easy and automated in my life is fine by me! And I love that many of the monthly payments I need to make for memberships and services come right out of PayPal too…easy in and easy out.

  6. Who has time to go to the post office?! LOL! I try to swing by after I drop my daughter off at school, but it doesn’t always work out that way. Paypal is so much easier — I don’t have to do anything.

    Lazy WAHM indeed. :D

  7. Oh, I have mine sent to my home. If they were sent to the PO Box I’d never get my checks! LOL I never go to my PO Box and all it does is fill up with junk mail.

PayPal please! If you ladies can’t control your PayPal spending, then you need a smack. ;-) Just kidding, of course.

If you’re an affiliate manager and are using checks, you’re really cutting into your affiliates cash flow. Not only will they be motivated to promote more when they get money quickly, they’ll also have the cash to do new promotions. Also, if you international affiliates, the problem gets even bigger where banks hold international checks for weeks at a time.

Thankfully, my bank cashes all my U.S. checks immediately (or cheques, as we call them here in Canada), but others are not so lucky…especially overseas.

    Be kind…use PayPal. :-)

Yep I like seeing that $$ show up in my paypal account but I do agree with the other ladies here – seems like it’s gone almost as fast as I get it! But it’s nice to have the $$ in there for the subscription payments that I have, etc.

Lazy here too – I usually wait for about 5-8 checks to pile up before I go to make a deposit.
