In May I started to produce a special Member’s Only Webcast for my mailing list members. This has been really enjoyable. Each month I gather up a ‘panel’ of work at home moms to participate in a round table discussion about a topic of interest.
This month the topic is ‘Boundaries in Business’ and we talked in depth about how to create and defend boundaries around our time and family when we have a home based business.
You’ll always have trouble setting boundaries if you have low self esteem and you haven’t yet realized that you are WORTH it.
What do I mean by that?
If you feel like you’re ‘just a little work at home mom playing at this whole big business thing’ you won’t stand up for yourself and:
- Charge what you’re worth
- Tell a client no when they ask you to rush a job on Friday at 4:30pm
- Let the phone ring at dinner time
- Ignore an IM from a demanding client
- Set clear limits on what you will and won’t do
At first, we all have pretty low expectations. We have a lot of time on our hands and we’re willing to work hard for a little bit of cash. But, if you’re good at what you do, this should be a temporary thing – only many of us find that when WE are ready to step things up and charge what we’re worth or start to limit our crazy hours – OTHERS aren’t all that thrilled.
So – we cover all this in the audio. Listen in and get some encouragement :) If you’re not already on my list – sign up here: http://www.wahmtalkradio.com/getstarted.html
