The question that has come up today is, Can you telecommute as a Transcriber? Before we begin touching on this subject let’s first talk about what a Transcriber is, for those of you that may not know.
A Transcriber is a person or persons that transcribe recorded information, such as audios into a written form. Companies use transcription to shift the burden of typing from highly paid executives to lower salaried employees. Executives and Professionals, such as doctors, dictate and then a transcriber will go back and transcribe the work to document form.
Although most of us are more familiar with Medical Transcription, the truth is a transcriber can work in a variety of fields and in a variety of circumstances. Many transcribers work in offices while others are self employed, working on a contract basis. Today there is a great deal of work available online for all types of transcribers.
Now to answer the question, Can you telecommute as a Transcriber? The answer is yes in some cases you can. There are companies that will hire someone to transcribe work for them as a telecommuter. You simply have to do some research and search for the companies that do offer that type of work.
You might begin by checking out the websites that we talked about in our previous posts such as JustOnlineJobs.com and RatRaceRebellion.com. Those are just a few places you can search for these types of jobs. Also don’t forget about doing a search on google.com, it’s a great place to get information!
You will probably find that you might be better off going on your own as a freelance transcriber rather than working as a telecommuter for someone else. The truth is you probably would be able to find more work, as well as make more money by simply finding your own contracts and clients.
Of course Medical Transcription truly isn’t that easy to get into. You can’t just pick up and decide you want to do Medical Transcription. It does require some schooling that can be a bit pricey. But, there are definitely companies that do hire medical transcriptionist to work as telecommuters.
Another type of transcription is General Transcription. This type of transcription is more easily ready to get into. It does require certain tools and there are some simple skills to learn and put into place. But, it is much more obtainable without schooling than medical transcription is.
