It's hard to let go as our children grow. My oldest is 18 too, and I've been taking baby steps and working through the stages for the past year or longer. The first girlfriend, high school graduation, going away to college. Every time he comes home on break my heart is full because our little family is all together - and every time he leaves again I let go all over again. I'm getting better at it, but it's never easy. Still, he has matured so much in the last year, and I know that he will find his place in this world, and he will thrive.
