Sparta, N.J. (July 2007) – Anti-Alpha Moms coming to terms with the fact that motherhood isn’t as idyllic as Claire Huxtable or Carol Brady led them to believe are the target customers of “Living the Dream,” a new line of t-shirts designed for modern moms with a sense of humor.
Living the Dream t-shirts sport illustrations of a harried but happy Mom in a variety of typical situations — buried in laundry, dealing with the chaos of grocery shopping with multiple kids, accepting the futility of cleaning and cruising in her mini-van with all the offspring in tow.
Cindi Schmitzer, former accountant and current mother of four, founded LTDchix in 2006 with fellow mom Nina Frye. In Frye’s previous life, she was an account executive at a Fortune 100 company before taking on motherhood and three kids. The two New Jersey-based women recognized a trend among moms railing against the judgment of mothers who fall short of perfect.
“No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t keep up with the Alpha Moms,” said Schmitzer. “I had been an accountant, as Type A as you can get. But when I had four kids in eight years, it was a rare day that I didn’t drop the ball at some point. We designed Living the Dream t-shirts to talk to the Beta Moms like me.”
Frye adds, “The Mom on our shirts is overwhelmed like many of us can be, but she’s happy and she keeps the family going. She really is ‘Living the Dream’ – just not exactly the dream she’d expected.”
Confessed Beta Moms who are Living the Dream — and those who love them — can choose from different styles tees in a wide range of colors. Living the Dream shirts are available online at www.LTDchix.com and stores along the East Coast.

Those tshirts are just TOO cute! I really can relate, and could probably come up with a few more versions for future use. Can you imagine “Mom’s Purse” as a tshirt? I think it would be a hit.
It’s a good thing they’re available online, because there aren’t any stores locally that sell them.
Thanks for letting us know about them!
