Web 2.0 and the new face of social media provides a working connection between moms who may otherwise never have met.

The Wikipedia defines Web 2.0 as “a term describing the trend in the use of World Wide technology and web design that aims to enhance creativity, information sharing, and, most notably, collaboration among users.” Mothers worldwide taking advantage of web 2.0 and all it has to offer. Women who may never have meet otherwise are creating partnerships and teaming up on new business ventures.  One example is Moms In A Blog (http://momsinablog.com), a network of blogging moms which launched July 7th. The new collaboration is a prime example of Web 2.0 in action – co-founded by a 27-year-old magazine sales & promotions consultant from Manitoba, Canada and a 41-year-old home-based travel agent from Florida, USA who met at an online networking group.

Moms In A Blog uses Web 2.0 to effectively bring together 7 moms from all over North America. Besides the co-owners, the team includes Alyssa Avant – a Christian speaker and writer from Mississippi, Jennifer Lavender – an Oklahoma homeschooler, Dr. Daisy Sutherland – a former Chiropractor from Tampa Bay, Tracy Jo – a Michigan mother who recently added a set of quads to her family, and Eleisia Whitney – a Watkins Manager from California. Together, these seven women who have never met in person are utilizing Web 2.0 to its best advantage and building a booming resource site for other moms around the world.

Web 2.0 has opened numerous opportunities for mothers across the world to build their dreams by connecting with other women through online groups, forums and networking events. Using Web 2.0, women are finding opportunities, assisting each other, sharing advice, learning from each other, and forming partnerships that, like Crystal & Tracy’s, would not have been feasible in the past.
