Okay, what I really wanted to do was record a cool little “How To” video using Camtasia. Camtasia is video recording, editing and producing software you can use to record what’s on your computer screen, your voice and from your webcam…all at the same time or separately if you wish. Well, I recorded a short little blurb of me trying to explain Twitter, but the sound was horrible and quite frankly, it was boring. So, I deleted it. The reason the sound was horrible, I think, is because: a) I didn’t have the mic next to my mouth, it was over my nose (which I didn’t realize until I was done recording). And b) I was talking very low so that I didn’t wake my snoring sleeping hubby up.

The reason I purchased Camtasia was because I just gained a new client who would like me to create “how to” videos for his site. He paid me in advance for my services, which made it possible to buy. I’m so excited! I’ve wanted software I could use to create “how to” videos for a long time now, but was never able to afford it and wasn’t sure which one to purchase. And quite honestly, I hadn’t done a whole lot of research into it because I didn’t think I was ready to make “how to” videos yet.

Well, now I have to be ready, so I’m learning how to record properly, then I have to learn how to edit and produce. Camtasia is really easy to use so far and they give you lots of support materials to guide you every step of the way.

So far, I’ve learned that I need to make sure the mic is in front of my mouth; that I speak in a moderate tone and not so low; that I record when my hubby’s not sleeping on the couch across the room; and that I type an outline first so I don’t flounder as I’m presenting.

I’m not an affiliate for Camtasia, and I’m really not trying to promote their product here. Just filling you in on what I’m working on. I will give recording a “Twitter How To” another shot and then post it once it’s ready.
