What My Son Learned About Coaching Today

Working at Home

Sean knows that I coach others as a big part of my business.  He can intelligently discuss a lot of internet marketing topics because he hears me talking about it so much of the day.  He has always thought it was pretty cool that people pay for my help and that they actually come back for more. (I’ve had some clients for two years now who come back for focusing sessions or help in developing a new idea.)

So when I hired him an Algebra Coach this week I thought he’d be happy.

He wasn’t.

It might be because his new Coach is a seventeen year old girl who lives next door to my niece but he was very resistant to the idea from the moment I suggested it.  If he could have thought of any way to get out of it short of just refusing to leave the house I think he would have.

But – today he went to his first coaching appointment and about two hours later he messaged me on his phone that they had conquered 1/3 of his course exams in the short time that they were together.

One Third!

Now, Sean had done some of the work before hand – but he had big empty spaces where he wasn’t sure what to do.  (I am not a math minded mom so I’m no help at all.)

Suffice it to say that Sean is now an even greater fan of getting coached.  He has seen for himself that there is no shame in letting someone with more experience help you through a learning curve.

I’m proud of him.  He’s looking forward to his next session!

I have two spots left for my six week coaching package that starts next week.  If you’re ready to tackle your learning curve with some help from a coach, why not sign up?

  • That's great news. My daughter was having a terrible time with her senior English class. We enrolled her in the Sylvan tutoring program and she made excellent improvements. English is my favorite subject, but I just don't have the patience for teaching. Outsourcing is a good thing Coach!

  • My 16 year old daughter could use a good Algebra coach. She's willing to get the help too, so I may have been inspired! Thanks for sharing your son's success Kelly ;-)
  • I'm laughing at Carrie's comment because I was thinking along those same lines ;-)

That's awesome that Sean is seeing, aside from what he sees you do when it comes to coaching, that there are real benefits in letting someone coach you and help you! Cool beans!

  • May I borrow your coach? I realize there might be an airfare issue to deal with, but when it comes to math, homeschooling makes me want to launch myself in front of the nearest train.

I will offer her cookies. Please tell her she can have all the cookies she wants.
