When I was hiring for the position for a recruiter, one of the things that we, the HR department, noticed was that people tend to forget to put on their resume that they have worked from home.
As a virtual employer, you are looking for that experience on a resume that shows that you are qualified to work from home. Thus forgetting to put that you have work at home experience can be a fatal mistake in getting that position.
Online employers want to know if you have the dedication to work from home.
Some companies do not want to experience those first few months with you as you break in working at home. On the other hand, some companies do not have a problem if you have no experience. In our case, we did not need you to have experience because we trained you for the position.
You could have the perfect brick and mortar work experience but with work at home experience, you will go farther up the stack.

Tami,
I telecommute 2 days a week for my 9 to 5 job, and it never crossed my mind to point this out on my resume. I don't plan to get another 9 to 5 job, but I do plan to apply for virtual/freelance jobs. This is a great way to tie in my corporate experience! Thanks for sharing.

It's one of the biggest mistakes that people make. I'm glad that I was able to help you with it. It shows that you have experience handling yourself at home. Thats huge in the virtual world.
